These array of beings, both human and almost human, inhabit his artwork as though they were real. The whimsical creativity put into each portrait leaps from the page into the mind’s eye, filling it with wonder and delight.

Obviously, a child reading that same publication would expect to see a certain illustration, namely one that shows a farm animal jumping into the air. Death Scenes was one of the most fascinatingly disturbing books I had ever seen when I discovered it at a newsstand years ago, long before I became a publisher.
